NWH Northern Westchester Hospital

About Interventional Radiology

A subspecialty of Radiology, Interventional Radiology uses traditional diagnostic imaging tools, such as X-Rays, Ultrasound, MRI, Fluoroscopy and CAT Scan to treat vascular and non-vascular diseases through minimally invasive procedures including angioplasty, biopsies and embolization. These procedures often eliminate the need for more invasive procedures and expedite a patient’s recuperation period.

At NWH, Interventional Radiologists perform a range of procedures in a dedicated, state-of-the-art Interventional Radiology Suite. Interventional Radiologists are physicians who have completed four years of study in Radiology and a fellowship in Interventional Radiology. These specialists work with a team of certified technologists, vascular surgeons, anesthesiologists and nursing staff.
